Amazon updates title tag for homepage – first time in 17 years

SEO consultant Cyrus Shepard noticed that Amazon has finally updated the title tag for its home page – for the first time in 17 years.

Previously, this title looked like this:

Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more

New variant:

Amazon.com. Spend less. Smile more.

The original title title was written by a 24-year-old SEO specialist in 2004 and has not changed since then.

The new title tag was added on June 4, 2021.

As a reminder, Amazon changed its leadership this month. On July 5, Jeff Bezos stepped down as CEO of the company – exactly 27 years after its foundation. He will remain chairman of the board and own 10% of Amazon shares. Andy Jesse became the new head of the company with a capitalization of $ 1.7 trillion.
